So yeah.

Mon Jul 20, 2009, 2:13 AM
It's been a few years, Deviantart.

I've left most of my old stuff for novelty value. Hey, it's fun to see compare old art with new art. I actually like some of that old stuff.
Everything in this gallery before today is kind of a relic, a snapshot of a particular phase of my life. Things were a lot different then. I was something of a shut-in back in the day, which, if you know me, is probably pretty amusing to reflect on. But the pendulum has really swung, as nowadays I'll find just about any excuse to go out to the city with friends (who nonetheless usually provide me with resistance when I try to get them to do so).
As I suppose comes with... Oh, 4-5 years? I know myself much better now than I did at the inception of this page.

I'm always striving to improve my art (and, needless to say, myself), and I have enough content that I considered it worthwhile dumping the new stuff on here. It's nice to have a place I can refer people to for RECENT artwork, finally.

My drawing habits are best described as 'intermittent'. I by no means obsessively draw. I'm sure I'd be a much better artist if I did. But I'm at a place where I'm decently satisfied with my level of skill. I can't stand up to the more devoted, but I have the capacity to stand out, if only a bit. I'm happy with that.

There was a time there in 2006 when I would tell people that I was working on a comic project with my good friend [link] . As she has not updated since 2007 (mostly because there is, to my knowledge, little in the way of digital art to update with), that is no longer the case. However, what we did create with nearly a year of deliberation on the story, means a lot to me and it is a story that I want to tell some day, perhaps when she finds more time in her life for such things (as I would not feel right hijacking the story on my own, nor would I want to). There is a lot of art centered around the remnants of those ideas, as they have kind of become the cornerstone for my internally motivated creativity.

Right now, artistically, I am involved in the Megaman 9 Remix Project, located here: [link] Doing cover art and other random art and whatnot for that. It's good to have a concrete project for which to draw, since sometimes, the muse does not call.

I intend to keep this gallery a bit more up to date with some more useful journal entries, so won't that be good.

My name's Alex. I'm 21, in college, currently unemployed and living with my parents (and there's no shame in that!)

I like games, art, hidden meanings, and people. I'm the kind of person who flutters from one thing to another, be it different art works I'll be working on, games I'm playing, or groups of people. All in all, I can be very focused, but it has to be something I'm interested in, and my interest is not fully at my whim.

Currently, I am looking forward to attending Hunter College in NYC this fall. Deciding on a major is a chore, since I could name at least four careers I'd really like to pursue, not all of them art related. But oh well.

I enjoy going to the city at night with friends, hanging out, riding my bike (preferably with someone, always much more fun that way), pretty much anything that involves the company of other people. I'm a social creature. And I'm easy to please, I can enjoy watching TV with someone about as much as I can enjoy playing a game or going places.

I like anthropomorphic characters, independent women, giant robots (in moderation), animals, fictional apocalyptic futures, and minimalism.
I suppose if a game or comic surfaced that had an anthropomorphic independent woman in a giant robot trashing a futuristic dystopia, my head would explode with joy.

That's pretty funny. :P But actually I dislike abstract and especially modern art because I feel it lacks skill. I don't mind people expressing themselves through art, but who wants to see it when it's like "LOL MY NOSE IS FROM THE SIDE AND MY EYE IS FROM THE FRONT"? And in the case of modern art... "OMG! YOU SPLATTERED SOME PAINT! 1,000,000,000 DOLLARS FOR YOU!" I much prefer art that has something to do with reality.

Why the gudge against abstract art? Cubism steal your lunch money? Jackson Pollock cut you in line? Mark Rothko make one too many "Your Momma" jokes?
